What’s happening on Friday Evening?

•Solos will be held on Friday Evening, June 5th this year. We will still offer top solo and judge’s choice awards, competitors who have registered with an all inclusive package are eligible. Solo entries will be critiqued as well as receiving a 1-100 number score. They will be judged on four main areas, Technique, Execution, Poise and Showmanship. Competitors will be given a 1-25 score for each area and the total will be their final score. The judges will be scoring within the student’s entered age category and skill level for each area.

 •Nightclub freestyles will also be held on Friday evening, these would include the following:
•Argentine Tango
•Salsa
•Bachata
•Merengue
•Hustle
•Jitterbug
•West Coast Swing
•Night Club Two Step
•Polka
•And any other dance outside of the standard American and International rounds.

 
Are freestyles and multi dances judged?
•Yes, freestyle and multi dance events will be placed with a 1-100 number score for each dance. We will have contested heats where possible.

Is there a charge for spectators? 
•We are very proud to say that spectator admission for Friday evening and Saturday daytime events continues to be free. Spectators are able to join us for lunch and/or dinner on Saturday at an additional cost. What is the start time?

•Our anticipated start time for Friday Evening is 7:00pm. The anticipated start time on Saturday is 10:00am. These are tentative start times and subject to change.

What is the order of events?

•On Friday evening we will start with a set of solos, then the nightclub freestyles, and end the night with a second set of solos. On Saturday we will start with Smooth freestyles and multi dances, then Standard freestyles and multi dances, then Latin and Rhythm freestyles and multi dances

Can we watch the showcase online?

•We will be streaming live on YouTube both Friday evening and all day Saturday. You can find our channel by going to www.YouTube.com and searching “Badger State Comp”. Due to YouTube’s music copyright policy, the stream may not be available for viewing after the showcase.

Will there be a photographer?

•We are happy to welcome back Tim Place as our photographer. Students and spectators are welcome to take their own photos and videos as well.

Will the hotel accommodate dietary restrictions?

•Absolutely, with at least two weeks’ advance notice the Osthoff is able to accommodate any dietary restrictions.
